PVT Cody A. Smith
August 25, 1992 – July 6, 2013 Cody Alan Smith was born in Hopewell, VA. From the young age of six years old he wanted to be a soldier. Cody enjoyed his time in the Army National Guard serving as a cannoneer. After serving his country Cody was an EMT with Hopewell Volunteer Emergency Crew, and volunteer firefighter with Jefferson Park Fire Department in Prince George, Virginia. I asked his mother Jeannie Powell Smith to tell me some things about her son. Here are some facets of his wonderful personality: He liked fire trucks and Army things when he was little. He loved to cook, loved to eat, and especially loved brownies. He dearly loved his dog Bubba. Bubba remained a long-time pal to Jeannie after Cody died. He was a sharp dresser and wore a men’s cologne like his grandfather, always smelled good. He really loved family gatherings with grandparents, aunts and cousins. Cody had the greatest smile! And most of all he loved to help people. He was a real Hero. Our gratitude and sincere sympathies to this courageous mother who also lost her other son, Christopher, some years prior. It was my pleasure to paint this portrait of Cody. Sponsors |
