SFC Christopher D. Burks

November 8, 1971 - August 2, 2012
U.S. Army

Christopher Dante Burks served in the United States Army for 23 years. States his mother Margarette Fearington: “My son loved serving in the U.S. Army. He went to basic training in 1989 and served until his death in 2012.” Christopher was the Maintenance Control Sergeant in the Support Area III, Camp Henry, Korea at Camp Walker Daegu, South Korea. He graduated from R.S. Caldwell High School in Columbus, MS. Chris then attended the University of Southern Mississippi prior to his full-time enlistment into the Army.

Christopher served two tours in Iraq plus tours in several other countries. He was recognized for many outstanding achievements. Chris was also an avid Green Bay Packers fan.

Sgt Burks was a Soldier, Son, Husband, Father, and Brother who loved serving his country and helping those in need. When off duty he served his community by volunteering with several organizations and churches. By all accounts he was blessed with a beautiful family and many friends who miss him dearly.

We are forever grateful to Christopher for his devotion to our country. He was a true patriot who served generously to help keep us free. It was my privilege to paint his portrait.
